The Water Sanitation and Hygiene Program aims to raise awareness about drinking water and hygiene among children and adults, while improving access to local drinking water and sanitation facilities. This is part of our goal to ensure children's right to a healthy and safe life and promote their well-being.
By providing drinking water and hygiene training to citizens, they learned proper hygiene practices, such as using standard drinking water containers, safely storing water, and regularly cleaning the containers. Since commonly used latrines can pollute the soil and groundwater, they pose significant health risks to the population. Therefore, it is crucial to raise citizens' awareness through training on proper drinking water usage and to improve sanitation facilities.
Latrines are commonly used in most places in Mongolia. With the participation and support of household members, efforts are undertaken to improve pit latrines that do not comply with Mongolia’s MNS 5924:2015 standard. These improvements aim to reduce air, soil, surface water, and groundwater pollution, as well as to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Hygiene kits for daily use were provided to all sponsored children annually, helping to prevent both infectious and non-infectious diseases.
